Ladies and Gentlemen: SOPHIE!!!

As many of you know Cami had her very first LONG road trip two weeks ago to go to her Great Grandma's funeral in Rochester, New York. Although we were there under some terrible circumstances, Cami had a lot of fun. She got to meet her great friend Solia finally and she was also introduced to the ever so wonderful Sophie!

Cami first laid eyes (and mouth) on Solia's Sophie. It was love at first taste! Once GMa saw that Cami was in love with Sophie we knew it wouldn't be long before Cami had her very own Sophie.

(Here is Cami trying out Solia's Sophie....look at that intense face!)

A few days after we left Rochester to come back home I got a text message from GMa, who was still up in Rochester, with the picture below. GMa had worked hard and hunted down a Sophie just for Cami!!
(Cami's very own Sophie in the box)

After a long few days of waiting for Cami and a plane ride for Sophie she is finally at our house and residing amongst Cami's other toys. Cami is absolutely obsessed and in love with Sophie. She definitely is the favorite toy right now. Cami loves grabbing her, squeezing her, hearing her squeak and most importantly tasting her!

(Cami with her very own Sophie at last!)

Mommies: If you do not already have a Sophie for your drooling, teething baby I highly recommend one! I know it sounds stupid and it just looks like any other little toy but for some reason babies go CRAZY over Sophie! Cami is easily entertained for a good hour by Sophie if I let her. Simply wonderful for Mommy and baby!

Working it!

I LOVE this video of Cambria! She is so interested in everything lately. She works SO hard at grabbing things and then putting them in her mouth. It's so fascinating to watch her because she's got the 'grabbing' part down but she's not always as successful at getting things into her mouth yet. Most of the time she grabs onto something and then her hands go straight to her mouth and she gets frustrated because she doesn't want her hands, she wants the toy wrapped up in her hands instead.

She is finally starting to realize that she needs to not only grab things with her hands but then work to get the toy in her mouth instead of immediately putting her fists right up to her mouth because that's easy for her. I love this video because she's got the pacifier and she knows it needs to go in her mouth but she hasn't quite figured out how to get it in her mouth the 'right' way. I love how she's persistent and tries a couple times to get it in the right way, although still with no success. We'll keep working on that eye hand coordination.

P.S. - Yes, I am well aware that she is wearing a Halloween bib and it's the end of February. She has been sick the past few days with a cold and an ear infection and the spit up has been excessive so I am at the bottom of the bib pile.

4 Months Stats

Our little baby girl is getting so big, so fast!

This past week Cambria went for her 4 month checkup, and shots, and it was confirmed that she's definitely growing! She weighed in at 14 pounds and 3 ounces and 25.25 inches tall. The Doctor told us that she's very tall for her age (about 90th percentile), which I'm not really sure where that came from since I'm small and Jon isn't too tall either, and her weight is average for her age (a little above 50th percentile).

We were instructed to start her on solids and the Doctor told us that when she goes back for her 6 month checkup she should be eating cereal, oatmeal, veggies and fruits! Oh how much fun the next 2 months will be.

Keep growing my angel!

Solids, here I come!

On Friday, February 19th Cambria hit another big baby milestone. She started on solid foods!! We did rice cereal for a few days and now we have switched to oatmeal because it's easier on her tummy.

(This cereal stuff is pretty good!)

She is really enjoying her food and although it appears from the pictures that she is wearing most of it, a lot of it is actually making it into her mouth and then into her belly. She squeals in anticipation of the spoon nearing her mouth and she kicks her legs in between bites as if she is trying to bicycle her way over to Mommy to get more food faster. I can't believe how grown up she is getting!! In a few weeks we will try the real good stuff - vegetables! YUMMMM!

Giggles Galore

Little Cami is officially a giggle machine. She LOVES smiling and giggling at EVERYTHING lately! One of the funniest things she has encountered so far in her little life is when Mommy kisses her belly over and over again. We finally caught these giggles on camera to share with everyone.

Ladies and gentlemen - sit back, relax and enjoy the show!

Warning: If you are anything like me you will watch this video over and over again due to the infectious laugh of a baby. These giggles are just so pure and wonderful!!

Tiniest Sports Fan

Superbowl 2010

Thank goodness that Cambria is a girl after her Mommy's heart and she is already showing a love for sports. Cami LOVED watching her first Superbowl and she definitely had the best seat in the house! Apparently all of those bright shiny flashing colors really tire a girl out too because she was fast asleep by halftime. Don't worry, we informed her the next morning that The Saints won.

History in the Making!

Here are Cami and Mommy partaking in a little piece of history: 30 inches of snow in the Washington DC area!! Although we knew it was necessary to bundle little Miss Cami up and take at least a few pictures in all of this snow to remind her later on in life how snowy her first winter was, she HATED every minute of it. As soon as we walked outside, despite being bundled up, she was NOT happy. When a cold wet snowflake hit her in the face that sealed the deal and the crying began. We quickly snapped a few shots and back inside we went for more snuggle time and lots of smiles!

Little Miss Personality

Lately my new nickname for Cambria is "Little Miss Personality". She is getting SOOOO fun! She talks, squeals, shows tons of emotions (boredom, frustration, happiness, silliness, etc.).

As you can see from the video below Cami also enjoys partaking in conversations with me now too. I LOVE her high pitched little voice and it makes my day when she 'talks' to me. Each morning when I wake up I am excited to see what Little Miss Personality has in store for me that particular day.

Snow Bunny

I know this is going to sound weird, but since the day I found out I was pregnant with Cambria I always have had a morning chat with her. Included in the morning chat was (and still is) always a discussion about the weather. I know it sounds weird to talk to your belly and tell this little unborn child about the weather but I just always felt like I had the responsibility to share with her what the weather was like each day. I still continue this morning chat with Cami and each morning as I feed her a bottle I tell her about the weather for the day.

Since Cambria has been born many of our morning weather chats have included SNOW. This is VERY exciting to me because growing up in Upstate New York I LOVE the snow! For the past few years I began to take on the standpoint that the reason I always got so excited for snow was due to the fact that I am a teacher and I was always looking for a snow day. This year though I really don't have that excuse and yet I still get as giddy and excited about the snow as ever. After thinking about it for a while, and talking about it with Cami, I have figured out that the reason I love the snow so much this year is because it gives us an excuse to stay inside and just enjoy being cozy as a family.

What better gift could I ask for than a magical white blanket of snow to look out on and a cozy house to cuddle up in with the best husband, daughter and dog ever? I say - BRING ON THE SNOW!!!!!!

(**This weekend they are calling for another HUGE snowstorm to start tomorrow and go into Saturday that will be anywhere between 12 and 20 inches of snow**)

The Magic Touch

One of my most FAVORITE things about being a mother are all of the little sweet things that my Cambria does without even realizing it.

One of my latest guilty pleasures is going in to kiss Cami while she is sleeping in her crib. The reason I love it SO much is because as soon as my lips touch her cheek she lets out the most peaceful sigh ever and slowly turns her head towards me. It is almost as if it is her way of saying, "Ahhh, I can relax because my Mom is here".

Another reason I love it so much is because I know it decreases her heart rate. How do I know this? I learned this when Cami was in the hospital for her SVT. Every time that I would kiss her cheek and stroke her face her heart rate would slow down on the monitor. I guess it must be the magic touch of a mother.

I guess this 'magic touch' is just as enjoyable for Cami as it is for Mommy. I can only hope that as Cami gets older she still allows her Mommy to heal her with the 'magic touch' of my love.
